total newbie here...

I am in need of a sound card because I'm tired sequencing with the Fantom X and I'd prefer a mouse and keyboard to make life freakin easier and faster for me.

Im sorta confused with connecting the two together.

1) Do you connect the L&R audio outputs from the Fantom into the front-panel XLR microphone jacks in the Firebox???
If you can, can you use a slpitter to use one XLR in the sound card?

2) Or do you connect Fantom outputs in the Firebox S/PDIF (RCA?). The Fantom doesn't have S/PDIFs though.

Also, I'm going to have the MPC 2000 running in the firebox Line-Ins.

Plz help before I make purchase.

Well you can't really hook the Phantoms line output's into the XLR connections as they are for mic hook up. You need to use the line inputs.

But there is a way you can use the XLR connections by using a DI or line leveler box. That will take the line level signal of the Phantom and then allow you to have it come out of the box into the XLR connections of the firebox. If the Phantom does not have the s/pdif out then you cannot hook into the s/pdif in of the firebox as well.

You could buy a small mixer and have the MPC in two channels and the Phantom in two channels then have the main outs of the mixer go into the line in on the firebox. That would work as well.

oh I get it now.
I guess I'll look for a mixer or another audio interface then.

thanks for the quick reply
