Hi,
I recently got a set of Roland V Drums TD3.
They are fantastic in fairness hours of fun banging away.
Anyway, regarding recording on the Zoom MRS, What would be the best way of recording. I have played around, and tried recording into stereo channel on the MRS, it sound okish, but was looking for something better,it gets a bit muffled or lost.On the zoom MRS you can only record one track at a time.
Has anybody any recommendations of recording V Drums on a multitrack, is a pre amp recommended ? whats the best way to go ?

Which MRS is it ? Every MRS I know allows stereo recording which will make a huge difference.

You probably need a stereo input cable.

how are the drums ? I am so close to getting a kit but it's likely to be a lower priced one.

Well Tony Coi
Its the MRS8

The Drums are fantastic..The TD3 is the cheapeast one out out there.
Apparently they are better than the HD1's, thats what the guy in the shop told me.
I am not a drummer, but I can knock out some decent beats, lovely kit.

You need to connect the L/R of your drums into the middle of the mic input and the input 2 on the back of the MRS.

Then you have to stereo link your tracks in the MRS and pan them left and right for playback. You also have to watch out for what input effects you have on the MRS, probably best to BYPASS for starters.

It's pretty easy. If any of the above doesn't make any sense then keep asking

Believe me the stereo image makes a HUGE difference to the sound.

Thanks For that.
When I went home last night I worked it out..
Basically you can record 2 tracks at one time on the zoom MRS8,
There are two stereo tracks on the MRS,
So What I have done is use the two inputs on the MRS and record on to one of the stereo tracks, I think the stereo tracks automatically pans left and right, as I can hear drums in both earphones
You are right though it does sound a lot better. As regards the effects, playing around for best effects on zoom.
Thanks again.
