I'm going to start over with this system of mine, and I'm looking at going with an XP64 OS, if the beta drivers seem to be holding up ? If anyone is using them with any success, I'd really like to know . Thanks, in advance .

last time i tried the delta 64 bit beta drivers a year ago, i only had 1 recognizeble and big problem... when recording midi, it was very out of sync and i dont mean latent or coming in early, notes was just going all over the place (in cubase sx3).... i had no problems with the vista (32 bit) drivers tho...which is also compatible with xp and it has a new panel, and i recognize a slight improvement in performance, and u could also change the buffer size while an app is running (couldnt do that with the old drivers)..... i guess the best thing to do is wait till the vista 64 bit drivers come out, if ur interested in 64 bit drivers....... cause they had that xp 64 bit beta over 2 years now.... think they woulda have the final release out by now, if they were really working on it...

yeah, considering microsoft is planning on phasing out XP support in the "somewhat near future", i doubt if manufacturers are really concerned with XP, Vista might be the thing to wait for...

oOo... 65 bit processing! I was certain they'd go to 128 bit processing first, but perhaps they found a way to use that next two easier... =)

Hue, you'll also want to make sure everything on your system will run in the 64 bit OS. There have been several occasions were things would not run at all or very flaky in the 664 version of XP. Not sure why as Sonar runs great in it. But then again Cakewalk did invest heavily with MS to make sure their software would run 64 bit and be stable.

Another thing is that Sonar 6 and 7 will run 64 bit on a 64 bit system even if the OS is only 32 bit. So that is some food for thought as well.

And I honestly don't see XP getting phased out for another 3 or 4 years yet. As much as people are hating Vista at the moment it would be the dumbest thing they have ever done.

Remember to turn on the 64 bit double precision engine in the audio preferences.
