What would be the best Mic Placement and Mixing (In terms of Panning) if I had:

E-MU 0404 USB Interface with 2 Hi-Z/Line/XLR Mic inputs (basically from what I can tell, their are just two inputs that are sort of universal, you can plug XLR or 1/4" in the same input) & Phantom P

1 MXL 909 Condenser Microphone (25hz-20)
1 MXL 990 Condenser Microphone (30hz-20)

I also have a 4 input mixer and digital recorder for backup external sources, and dynamic mics, ect. My digital recorder (BOSS BR 532) has a optical S/PDIF output as well as my E-MU interface has an S/PDIF input, if that can be used.

For four inputs ? I'd say keep it simple .

Start with...
Kick- Up the middle .(dynamic)
Snare- Up the middle .(dynamic)
Overhead Left 100% .(condenser)
Overhead Right 100% .(condenser)

Use the Rule Of Three, to keep from phasing when you place your mics . Solo and EQ each drum separately, then tweak those EQs while listening to the whole drum mix . Compress in stages . You may wish to compress the snare on the way to tape to tame a hard hitter . Alot of this turning out well will have to do with your room, but it's a place to start .
