Okay, I brought you here under false pretenses, really. But since you're here, pull up a stool and hear me out.

Did anyone see the PBS Crossroads Benefit thing? Amazing.

The list of guitar players is endless and wonderful. My absolute favourite was the girl (Tal Wilkenfeld) playing bass with Jeff Beck. Unbe-f'ing-lievable.

There are some musicians I can watch and they inspire me to pick up a guitar/bass and play/create. There are also some musicians I watch who make me want to throw in the towel.
Tal's one of them.

TC, I for one could not agree more. EC has been a long time inspiration for me. Although I don't even try to aspire to those heights at all it is awesome to watch him play, and well listen to. Tal, well yes she is something isn't she? Wonderful player, and you can tell she can just go with it no matter what direction they go. She is one of those rare players that can walk in not knowing what is going to happen and just let it flow.

I saw her on a special with Susan Tedeshi and man was that cool.

And she is a pretty little thing as well.

Nice find TC.

I'm part way through Eric Clapton's autobiography. You guys gotta read it!

Have either of you seen the Robert Johnson sessions? It features Doyle Bramhal II on second guitar, and at times he is stealing the show. With Claptons blessing it would appear. It also features Nathan East on Bass, Billy Preston on the Hammond and other notable players that have been with Clapton on and off for years.

The best part of the DVD is when EC and Doyle play an acoustic only duet of several tune in the Dallas Hotel in the very same room that Robert J recorded his now famous blues. It even gives me the willies just writing about it.

If you have not seen it I suggest doing so, it is some of the best playing straight out. The camera's just kept rolling as the band rehearsed for the upcoming tour that year.

I'll have to take a stab at the autobiography, Jim. I saw it in a bookstore recently but passed on it for some reason...(Yes, I do go to bookstores...).

Yeah, Tal Wilkenfeld. 24, and has been playing bass for about four years (she was a guitar player, apparently), and she just about blows away everyone else. Incredible. I'll be watching her career with great interest. She looks 12, though!

EC keeps getting better and better. The Bluesbreakers and Cream stuff was good, but his playing now is so much more...er...mature (duH!).

Jeff Beck still blows me away. He's soooo good. Total control.

Na, she looks 24.

But ya, Clapton just keeps getting better. And do check out the Robert Johnson thing if you can find it. Some killer playing in that as well.
