Del Shannon's Keep Searchin' and R.E.M's (Don't Go Back To) Rockville, 2 all time favorite songs creamed by me covering them, doing all the parts. :)

Jun 29, 2007 11:31 pm McMerkin, the smile factor on these tunes was at the top. I really enjoyed the classic 60s vibe, and the organ on "Keep Searchin" was a hoot. I appreciate the work you put into restoring the old tapes. More people should be conscious of their recorded heritage, whether it be photographs, sound, or paper text. Your family will appreciate your work long after you're gone.

Yes, it is purely for my own fun in recording these long loved tunes (the ones I can actually play!). It's the fun part of recording and pulling it off (to a degree anyway, no Grammy award winners in my batch) that makes this such a great hobby.

Jul 01, 2007 04:46 pm Sweet, we covered the Del Shannon tune in one of the first bands I was in. Pretty cool version of it if ya ask me. Nice straight ahead cover and well done. Loved the organ part. I gotta agree with Herb on the smile factor for sure. The REM tune was well done as well. Nice harmonies on both tunes really. I'll have em in my playlist for sure.
