thank you for the help and the manuals did help. but well i did check that out but im still a big newbie that doesnt understand a lot.... and i really didnt understand at all..... so now my problem is do i hook the mixer(ub1622fx) to the audio interface(firepod)by channels as in mixer channel 1 to audio interface channel 1 and run the mic through the mixer. or will that blow something or is there a smarter way

Dude, there's tons of info on this website! Spend a few hours reading the articles (they're quite interesting).

Start here:
www.homerecordingconnecti...tory&id=508

When you get through the articles and have an idea of what things should look like, it'll be a lot easier to get started. As to "blowing up things" the main thing is don't like... connect power outputs on your amp to say... inputs on your firepod or something.

You might start by just hooking your mic directly up to the firepod and learning how to use the features of the firepod first. Then add the mixer into the loop and learn how it works.

Start simple and small to learn/get things working, and work up from there. Folks in here can help with specific questions when you get it all hooked up and such. I'm honestly just a bored grad student who doesn't know jack about anything except a tad about computers and morphing wing aircraft.

Good luck man!

I don't think I'd use the mixer, until you have a need to. The firepod will act as your preamps, and your audio interface. So the mixer would be redundant for now.

Later, when you want to get more robust routing, you can add in the mixer, but I don't think the preamps on the mixer will be as good as the presonus.

If you're in a need to use the vamps, then plug from the vamp to the line input on the firepod, for that channel. If you're plugging a guitar directly into the firepod, use the instrument 1/4" jack.

2 outputs go into the headphone amp inputs, though that should be pretty easy to figure out.

kenneth, every body can say welcome to HRC. It would be an interesting thread if everyone stopped by and said hello, wouldn't it?
