I got a spare three hours today so I put together another song for the upcoming album.
This one's called "Lake Effect II". There's a story behind that, but I'll get to that later (preferably after I've slept, which hasn't happened in about 20 hours).
Anyway, all comments/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Mar 22, 2007 10:29 am I do like your vocals on this. Drums are really live sounding, I am a great avocat for that type of sound!!!, perhaps bring them further to the front though (less air) I liked the accoustic guitar tone, nice and mellow.
Mar 22, 2007 10:35 pm Thanks Kaos! Yeah, I've fallen in love with that live-sounding, airy drum sound...maybe to my detriment, I dunno. I'll toy around with that and see how it sounds.
I'm about 5/6ths done with the sessions for the new album, and this was the first time I'd used the Fender acoustic, which has a much "mellower" sound than the Epiphone.

Mar 25, 2007 02:35 pm Nice shuffle feel to this. You could easily dance to it. Kind of country in a tiny little way. I like the chord progression as well, got kind of a jazz feel to it in an under toned way. I think I've said this before but your vocals on certain things remind me of a very young John Hiatt. I liked the simple lead guitar part as well, not distracting and lets you drift right back into the song.
I have to agree on the drum thing as well, got that live kind of feeling going. I think you got a real good capture on the guitar tone as well, some nice pick sound coming through without sounding clicky.
Loved the entire tune and cant wait to hear more.
