Well, I use Magix 2005, the earlier version
of 11, and it works great. I have 11 too,
though I don't use it right now, even though
it's better than 2005. Why don't I use it?
Because there are some problems with compati-
bility; I'm right in the middle of recording tracks for a CD, and I think the only way to
use 11, with its 24-bit resolution, would be
to re-record my tracks, and that ain't happening.
You should have no problems with 11, though.
I know you are just getting started with recording, so open up the program, and try it
out--that's what I did, and believe me, I knew
nothing about any DAW. The program comes with
a simple start up guide for first-time recorders.
It's in the manual, and it is helpful. In the
meantime, get a cheap condenser mic (Behringer
or MXR (?), cables, and a couple of dynamic
mics (sm 57, etc.) I think in another post
I mentioned the soundcard--get the best one you can--I use an E-mu 0404 with Magix 2005, and I'm
getting great results. (Check out my gear list
in profile.

dude thnx sooo much!!! i like the extras w/ it. im more of an acid pro guy but it just is dull and just records straight up w/ nothing to tweak it [probably because its mainly for loops and stuff]. so magix is such a huge change w/ the whole mixer and mastering software!!

Exactly. I've used loops before, and its easy and fun to do in Magix. However, to me, the DAW is the 48 track tape machine I'd always wanted but could never afford. I see it as a recorder,
with a mixer and effects (built in).
