short noise in an intervall of 1 second when recording - XENYX1204/UCA200

Hello,
im sorry for my bad language, but I am very new to this stuff and dont have the vocabulary.
When I record (using XENYX1204 with UCA200-USB-Interface, Windows XP), I sometimes (it starts at any time and goes away at any time) get a short noise in the intervall of 1 second. It doesnt depend on the recording software, nor on the equipment, because when I go into my amp and do both recording and amplifying, I dont hear this noise.
But on the recording software you see that the amplitude is at its maximum level when this noise comes.
Whats the reason? I think there are processes in the background or drivers/system services which interrupt my audio driver when using the CPU.

How can i solve this problem?

Thank you very much,
Christian

Do you have an onboard sound device that could be doing it? It is possible to have a driver conflict such as that. Disable the on board sound driver and see if it makes the difference.

Hi,
unfortunately there is no difference after deinstalling the onboard sound driver.
As soon as possible I will try to use a different pc and see if the problem still exists.

Thank you,
Christian

You're not using a demo version of the recording software or vst? Sometimes the demo versions will have an audio interruption of some kind.

Yup, what TC said. Sounds like an expired demo VST or some sort of limited version.

Hi,
thanks for the answers, but i tried it with several audio recording softwares (audacity, cool edit pro...)
I used the PC of a friend and - what a surprise - the noise is gone.
Then i completely reinstalled Windows XP and updated my USB drivers, but the problem is still here - arg!
Then I used the analog audio input from my internal sound card and the noise doesnt appear - but the sound quality is so bad...
So I think that it must be an USB issue.
After that I tried using Audacity under a SUSE Linux platform, but it didnt work ... I got noises over and over (which are more like a hiss coming and going).
In this forum i read s.th. about ASIO, but this made no difference. ASIO4ALL recognizes the "USB Audio CODEC" device (thats how its called) but when selecting a sound device in my recording software theres still only USB Audio CODEC ... nothing with ASIO. Thats why Im not sure whether ASIO is properly installed.

If you want I could upload a short mp3 file with this noise.

I really think that I got a USB/mainboard hardware problem...

Greetings,
Christian
