Hello all.. my first post here!

I've recently purchased a Lexicon Alpha which came with Cubase LE as cheap recording solution because I'm on a budget. Having great fun trying to figure out all its little intracacies and have managed to knock out a couple of tunes through my guitar. Having played around with it a little more I have found the 'VST' effects and these all work fine on Audio channels. I've found a keyboard thingy that can be used on the midi channels by double clicking the channel itself. If I added effects to them and make tunes within the midi channels I can listen back to them no problem. This is where I begin to have trouble though. I cannot for the life in me figure out how to export the tracks INCLUDING the VST effects. If i export as an audio mixdown to a wave file it records as silence, and if i export to midi it exports the tracks but minus the VST effects. So essentially three layers of Piano sounds. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. And be gentle.. i'm a complete beginner

Hello Pete, welcome to the club!

I've not seen the alpha, nor Cubase LE, but I'll throw out some ideas.

When exporting, I'd think that you'd want something like mixdown (or render). This should make a new wave file from your original + any effects.

Now in the mixdown window, there may be something like 'include track' or similar, where you can select which tracks to include in the mixdown. I'm thinking you have to select one, or some, or all of the tracks you want in the final mixdown.

the final mixdown will be in a stereo wave file.

If you want to put this on a CD, you'll have to mix down to 44.1khz / 16bit, as that's all CDs (or actually, CD players) can handle.

Ntrack had a window like this, so I'm gonna assume Cubase LE has something similar.

You need to set your locators to the area you want to export. Also, you need to include the effects in the export. The locators are the blue arrows at the top of the selection.

The locators need to be blue in colour and not red!
