Well really it's an old song that has been recorded so many times it's hard to count. I think I finally did it justice though. I still feel like I need more work on the guitars but I need to wrap this up sometime so I think it might be released as is.

Love it !!! Everybitofit...

Except, that high-end crackly synth that's going on throughout the entire piece . I find it distracting, as apposed to supportive . Maybe if it was lower in the overall mix, or surfaced every now and then, instead of riding over the whole song, I dunno .

GREAT song, and great recording... 'cept for that one synth-voice .

Glad to see y'a back around, man .

Yeah I see what you mean. The guy that writes that stuff usually puts it together before we lay down the rest of it so he's usually trying to fill up space and it doesn't always work out in the recording process. I took it down some. He used to have these annoying drums that played through the hole song and it really conflicted with what I was doing as a drummer so luckily I am the mix engineer so I have free rein to cut what ever needs cuttin'. Thanks for the advice.

Oh I just finished the album version of that one. Had some major work to do on the drums for that one. I think it might just be better than the version you have.

Sweet ! Is it the version in your player ?

That song also has that synth thing going on, but somehow it works better... perhaps not as pronounced ?

Your guitar player's got that KMFDM sound/style down pat !

Yeah accept KMFDM's guitar players play more than just power chords. He's not as clean as I'd have hoped though. Some of the sections have some phase cancellation cause the two guitar takes weren't exactly on. Other than that I am very happy with it. I will post both new mixes later today.

True, about the fifths . I went to learn Jukebox Jezibel a coupl'a years ago, and after really listening to what he was doing, I was surprised to find how many other chords were in the progression, particularly at the E in-between the hammer-ons/offs... he does a couple of different things there .

Not to mention that he writes and read real sheet music and not tabs.

Sorry I'm late to the thread, still busy as hell here.

I am gonna agree with Hue on this one. I loved it! The intro was killer and timed very well. I am guessing I listened to the finished version. The synth part wasn't distracting at all in this one, at least here it wasn't.

Otherwise really good tune overall. And I do agree on the KMFDM thing as well.

Yeah I touched up the ending a little. Gave it a little more panache. Other than that this is as close as it gets. Thanks for compliments. Hey noize, I'm still waitin on those songs you said you were gonna post. I really like drive:a. You said you had more along those lines. Just wondering.

Ya know, it is still on my to do list. I am just finishing a project for our scout troop and then it is back into music and all that is good again. I do still need to search for the drive with that stuff on it. When I find it I will post one or two more from those sessions.

Dude, had a quick listen. I will give them a better listen tomorrow for sure though. On quick listen I loved the guitar on P L & D for sure. And that was listening quietly, can't wait to turn it up a bit.

Crutch for the Weak was some killer guitar stuff as well. Loved the intro as well. DT sounded like you put some good work into and on the quiet listen it sounds like it is in much better shape. And ya, the intro still kicks butt.

I'll take a better listen tomorrow and give ya more feedback.

Hey bbbiter, got to listen again. Not as loud as I would have liked but got a better listen today.

P L & D I loved the tune for sure. The guitars are pretty killer really, the panning and so on made for a very full sound. Only problems I can think of are the kick and bass guitar need to be pumped up a fair bit to make them more present. The vocal is present in the mix but seems a little distant, maybe the type of reverb needs a little tweaking. A small room reverb maybe instead as it sound like your using a bit larger room type.

I'll have to listen to the other two tomorrow.

OK, got through Crutch for the Weak and loved it as well. The vocal comes through nicely and is well placed as are the guitars again. I like the tone you got on the guitars and the vocals as well. Again though the bass and kick are a bit on the softer side. You can hear them this time and they are more present but could use the tiniest bit of help yet. Again, I love the voice samples you used on this one as well.

Domestic Terrorist, I listened to this one with a bit more intrigue as I do like this one. The kick and bass are much better on this one. The vocals are very loud on the main part, but don't drown anything out so it kind of adds to the stress level as one listens in a good way. The synth parts are killer and well placed for sure, and you know I love the voice bits you used as well. They fit very well. I like the change at about 4:50 and the way you used the samples in time with the music. It really adds some intensity to the piece and the way it ends.
