Delta1010LT on a Delta1010 external adc/dac box?

Hello All,

I have been using Delta 1010 for just over a year now. It is a great piece of hardware and has served me well---up until recently.

About a couple weeks ago, my girlfriend tried to hook a printer up to my computer when I was not around. The external adc/dac box for the Delta 1010 was not connected to the host pci card at the time, and lucky for me, the port perfectly fits a printer LPT cable. Naturally, she connected it to the printer and turned it on.

To make things short, now my Delta 1010 host pci card is toast. I think the external box is all right though, which brings me to my question.

Is it possible to buy a new Delta 1010LT and connect that to the external box with no loss of features? The 1010LT is at least $200 cheaper I believe, so I would prefer to buy that instead of another 1010.

I would appreciate any suggestions or help on this. Thanks.

-Jordan

I doubt it, the converters are on the 1010lt card, so I highly doubt they're interchangable.

If you're gonna go looking, the ESI ESP1010 is pretty sweet, some nice improvements over the 1010, but basically does the same job. djdeals in FLA had them for 299, but i'm not sure anymore.

No, that won't work :( That said, personally I'd contact M-Audio! Can't hurt, right? Just honestly tell them what happened and ask if you can purchase just the PCI card.

Thanks for the help. I will contact M-Audio and see what they have to say.

If I do decide to go for a replacement, do any of you know if the ESI ESP 1010 is supported under alsa (in linux)? I have a nice linux setup and I would prefer to stick with it for home recording. Usually linux has pretty good driver support for audio, but when it comes to these high-end audio cards, you never know.

I do believe you can order just the PCI card from M-Audio directly it should not be a problem.

As for ESI supporting alsa, I haven't looked lately at the driver data base but I believe the last release I have for mine is only Mac and Windows.
