hello people. i joined HRC with one basic question in mind... how do i field record?? yeah.. thats right.. i know absolutely nothing about how it works.. what i need.. if i can afford it.. blah blah blah. If some one were to to tell me what i need .. just to start out.. i would be eternally gratefull. I do have some recording and sound engineering background.. i just don't know what the basic get-up is for recording out-side of my room. thanks.

Welcome to HRC grant. I'll start out with the most important question. What kind of quality are looking for in the sound? And what type of field recording, bands, sounds as in nature, industrial that sort of thing? That will help figure out the type of recorder and possible microphone recommendations as as well.

If it is simple sampling of outside sound's then that is much simpler and easier. IF you looking to record a live band or such then it can get a little more complicated as well as expensive since the recorder's are a good deal more intense.

Let us know and we'll get you going quickly. There are many of us here who do filed recording of all types so we can get you up and running.
