Well here's my first message, greetings to all!!!
Question I had, does anything out there read tapes recorded on the Tascam 388 8-Track recorder?!? And speaking of Tascam 388, does anyone know where to find spare parts for the unit?!? Appreciate any response, thanks once again!!!

Nov 14, 2006 07:15 pm You would only be able to play those tapes back on another 8 track type recorder. As for spare parts, well that could be tough. I suggest a few differant searchs on google. I tried a quick one but came up kind of empty. Also if you have a local pro audio place like Guitar Center or better take it there or ask if they have any connections to parts.

Nov 19, 2006 11:28 am Yes that is what most people do. The only drawback will be tuning the tape's pitch. If you didn't lay a steady note down to adjust pitch with you will be flying by the seat of your pants on that one. But hopefully it wont be far off.
Even with 16 and 24 track tapes we used to drag em from one studio to the next. You just need the tone to match the pitch with.
