I am somewhat new to home recording, but I have purchase a Behringer Xenyx 1204FX mixer with a USB interface. I have it all hooked up, with all the cables connected, but cannot record anything with my computer software. Very frustrating.

Welcome to HRC.

First thing we always ask is do have a driver installed for it. Without the driver some recording programs may not see it. Yes, it is supposed to be plug and play, but there are some recording softwares it may not work with using the generic windows MME drivers. Here is a link to the page with and ASIO driver that should work with most applications. www.behringer.com/05_supp...ds.cfm?lang=eng

I'll ask this now so we can help a little further on the problem. What recording software are you using?

As well, when you installed it did windows come up with a driver install dialog? You may have to unplugg and disable the driver it allready found, if it did at all. Then you run the ASIO driver install from Behringer. Then after that has run you can plug the unit in and point it to where the ASIO driver installed to finish the instalation.

Normal USB hardware installs require that the unit not be plugged i while the driver is installed, then when it is plugged in windows will run the install dialog.

Can't point it to ASIO driver; the download seems to install a USB Codec, but not a *.inf file. It installs a control panel for Behringer, also, with the USB Codec selected. I tried "testing hardware" and it finds nothing.

OK, I know this is a silly question. But did you extract the files as they state and place them as follows. It doesnt actually use a .inf file for ASIO.

Copy asio2ks.cpl into your System32 folder.

Go to Control Panel, double-click ASIO2KS and make your settings.

This should work to allow you access to setting up the Behringer control panel and ASIO drivers to be seen by the recording application.

Did all that, but application still does not record anything. Should I disable my computer sound card? I have tried it both ways, already.

Can you give us the list of the drivers that are available in your recording application? If you dont know were to find them let us know which recording software you are using and we can help you locate them.

I'm talking about the list of audio drivers available in the drop down menu for your audio options. They should be listed plainly as audio drivers or input/output drivers.

The drivers available are USB Audio Codec, and Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit.

Do you have an onboard sound device as well as the SB Live and the Behringer? That might be causing a problem if so. Otherwise if it is just the SB Live it should not be causing a problem but I cant say for sure.

What seems funny to me is all my USB interface devices for midi and audio are all identified by name even under the generic windows driver list. And seeing the only driver listed is simply USB Audio Codec makes me think that windows for some reason is not seeing the ASIO driver file you dropped into the System32 folder. Otherwise it should identify itself something along the lines of Behringer-ASIO 1/2 or possibly UAC200-ASIO 1/2. Something along those lines. Did you order this unit online or puschase at a store? I'm thinking you might try the store first if they can assist you, otherwise you will have to contact Behringer Technical support with the problem.

One other thing you might try is to completely remove the driver windows allotted it by unplugging the unit and dissabling the driver. Then reboot your PC, plug the unit in and let windows do its thing with the driver install, see if it finds the ASIO driver that way.

____ CANT SEE USB SOUND CARD ____

I have to say, now that everything is hooked up and working,
This is an awesome product, buy it… but the only problem with this product is when you try to hook it up to your PC with the USB adapter.

After trying to hook up the UCA200 USB Adapter on 2 separate computers I was starting to think the device didn’t work, but I work as a computer tech and have access to all types of computers, I though maybe my computers were to old and didn’t have USB 2.0 so I plugged the device into a brand new computer,… same result.. after trying 3 or 4 more computers 2 out of 10 computers were able to see It ….wtf

“The problem has to do with the amount of power being sent to the USB Port”

Anyway to Resolve the Problem:
Buy a PCI – USB 2.0 Card for your PC if its not working
And you will be recording to your PC in no time.. ;)
