Hey all,

We've put up a new song (Contact) on our artist page. If you get a chance drop by and give it a listen. As always your comments are welcomed and appreciated.

I couldn't figure out how to link to the song directly like I use to be able to but this link will get you within a click away. www.guitaristworks.com/bands/47/audio.php

Thanks,
Lonnie

Rockin tune BeerHunter! I had to listen on the quiet side tonight but I'll give it another listen tommorrow louder. But at low volume I liked what I heard so far. I liked the way you hit the right guitar with the on/off sound. It really adds to it. Kind of give it a harder edge. The guitars soudned great and the drums were coming through nicely at the level I listened tonight.

Sounded just great at a more litenable volume tonight. Guitars might be a tiny bit on the bright side, but that could be the mp3 misleading me as well. Liked the tune overall very edgey feel to it.

Thanks Noise. We are really happy with the way its turning out. I tracked a pretty cool lead part last night and have begun some serious mixing on it. I should have it done (demo) by the end of the weekend.

Hey Noise/all,

Well after a bit of struggling I feel that I can finally put this one to rest. The link above still works and I'd be interested to hear any feedback that you guys may have (mixing, composition or otherwise).

Thanks,
Lonnie

Beer, good arrangement, instrumentation, and overall writing and performing. Just for kicks, try putting the vocals a back a little more in the mix ( especially during the choruses ) . Also, try a little flange on the VOX during the chorus and maybe overdub them to thicken...., Consider copying the verses and put a touch of the distortion on the copied vocals, that way they don't sound so clean. Try to give the snare and kick a little more "body", not necessarily volume though... especially the snare. Lower the highhat track a bit, and may be bring up the bass a very little bit ( or compress a bit). Overall, well done, this song has all the elements of a very professional recording. Nice job !

Hey carbonic, I have to LOL a bit 'cause one of the things I have been working on is getting the vox out front more - lol. I love the flange idea, I've been searching for the lost nugget for awhile now and that might just be it. Putting a flange on will probably knock it back a bit as well

The hi hat sucks. Gotta tame that sucka. I like the sharpness that it brings to the song but I agree I gotta set it back a bit.

Anyways, gonna try the flange thing and post a re-take.

Thanks,
Lonnie

BH, that rocks. I love the interplay between the two guitars. On these little speakers it took a bit of getting used to having such a wide stereo field on the guitars, but I got over it. The hat is a bit wild....Other than that, I love it. I'll have a listen tonight on better speakers.

Rather than flange, try a bit of chorus. Just for sh**s and giggles.

Loce the song and mix beerhunter. Agree with the high hat and bringing the vocals back a little, but apart from that I'll say you nailed it.

Hey TallChap, this is the first time that I have used this wide of a stereo spread. The guitars are panned around 65% and I normally pan them about 40%. I've just bought some new studio monitors and I must admit I'm still getting use to them. When I did the panning on this I didn't pay any attention to what percentage I was using, I just tried to give the guitars there own space in the mix as the middle seemed to be really crowded before. The vox do have a bit of chorus on them right now but they are not very wet. I will crank it up a bit more and see how it turns out. I'm not sure what it is about this mix but it sure has been a lot more difficult than other stuff we have done.

The hi hat is going to be a b*tch though. I have to manually adjust the levels. I'll probably work on this sometime tonight. However we have 2 more songs that we have just started so I won't have too much more time to spend on this one.

Thanks guys,
Lonnie
