Hello all...

I've just finished a new Magnetic or Mosaic track called "asterisk."

You can find it at www.magneticormosaic.com in the "Tracks" section. As I've mentioned before, we're really just learning what we're doing, so all feedback/criticism is welcome and helpful.

As always, if you've got tracks you'd like me to check out, I'm glad to return the favor. If there are any questions about the gear/approach used, feel free to ask.

Take care,
Shawn

impressive, as always. i must say i'm a fan. this one's very scary, there's actually some sounds around the 3 minute mark that really startled me. so far "On The Perils Of Trying" has been my favorite, but after a few more listens, this one may replace it. if i had to choose one word to describe it, i think i'd choose "moving". and i know that's what you intended. excellent work -j

The fat one always watches us.

Very very nice. its got a great "feel". the recording is top top notch too. very clean. very well put together. nothing like an angry lost song to start my day. i love that stuff. 2 thumbs up from tonyd.
what are you using for the drums. i havent figured out any real way to do drums myself. (midi is too hard, im too lazy, loops are a pain ect ect.)

Hey guys - thanks for the feedback. It's really great to hear that it's getting across the way it is meant to.

TonyD - The drums are all programmed via MIDI. In this case, all sequenced in SOnar, triggering drum samples in the DR-008 software. For the "heavier" part of the song, I compressed the **** out of 'em to give them that overly punchy feel... I was actually kinda shocked that it worked to compress drums that much (like a ratio of 8-10 or something like that).

take care,
_Shawn
