I'm sure someone will come along here with an actual solution or at least an idea why this is happening but until then, you could try standing on your head.

If it is a Dell (maybe even other brands) sometimes you can press Ctrl+Alt+Up/DownArrow to flip the image.

Prank software and viruses can do this too but try the above first before you start worrying about your machine being infected.

Yep, my youngest son downloaded a flash game that did the exact thing. It was just malacious software that created the problem. It simply resets your video disply to do a 180 turn. It could be a bunk video card but I doubt it.

my kids switched the display around on my new dell at home. some hotkey swapped the display around all four ways,

I can ask them what it was if it's still a problem.

Check for trojan horses, as there are some nasty programs out there like sub 7 that can give a user the ability to do this to your comp

Haha, you've most likely hit a hot-key as everybody suggested. Try right-clicking on your desktop, selecting "properties", and seeing if there are any "advanced" or "nvidia"/"ati" somethingorother tabs and you should be able to come up with something relating to your problem!
