My Home Recordings

these are 2 of my home recordings of original songs. I would appreciate any feedback on the recording quality. These are not my whole band, unfortunately, we recorded on a day it was just me and the drummer. We also have a Vocalist, Viola player, bassist, and piano/keyboard player. Though, actually on the "funk song" jam, we had our guitarist friend playing backup guitar to. I will get the full song recorded soon, bear with me.

Heh! Sounds like my band. I like that "funk" song. That's got alot of potential for a "giggin" band. Keep it up

Good so far, you almost made be break out into horrible vocals right here at my desk. Question: how are you recording the drums?
It sounds pretty good, id like to be able to record a drummer on a tight budget. thats why i ask

sounds like just one room mic, which coincides with dude's profile. that's how I was recording my band practice too, up until i got a mixer. wow what a difference. -j

We did these recordings to give to the other instruments so they could write their part along with the rough recording. We used a basic Computer voice chat recording mic. Of course i wouldn't suggest doing this for a real recording. The recording setup was in a rectangular room, with the drums on the other side of the room(facing towards mic), across from the mic, guitar(s) in the middle. Thanks for the compliment, and i think i said it already: this is not our best stuff, nor would it cover the extent of what we play(that is more of the rock/blues, and a ballad, while we also play jazz, and straight-up blues or classic rock)

Thank you, -Dan

Are you talking about one of those long skinny mics that come with sound cards and such? If so, ive never even tried to work with it on music.
I think ill give it a shot tonight, maybe mic'in the amp or something, just to get a diffrent sound. and yes it would be great for a band practice, not the best quality but you'd be able to hear everything. thanks dude
