Hi all...
My new project, Magnetic or Mosaic, has just finished a new track. We're pretty new to the whole recording process, so I'm really trying to get as much feedback as I can.
The track is called "On the Perils of Trying," and you can find it at www.magneticormosaic.com/tracks.htm
My mixes and recording are getting better, but they still have a ways to come. Any feedback is helpful, and as always, I'm perfectly happy to return the favor if you have something you'd like me to check out.
Feel free to take a look around the rest of the site as well.
If there are any questions about gear I used or a particular sound, feel free to ask...
Thanks!

Oct 26, 2002 02:33 pm Wow OMG, has noone else listened to this? I can't believe noone has replied to this post. Everybody download "On The Perils Of Trying", this stuff is incredible. It's like some entirely new experimental genre; I've never heard anything like it. If you like Tool or Smashing Pumpkins, or even if you don't, download this. This is the kind of music I hear in my head, but can never really convey, not just yet. I'm going to d/l the rest of them soon as I get a chance. -j

Oct 26, 2002 09:01 pm Took a listen tonight. You have created something very listenable, I gave it a couple of listen's quickly and I must say I am very impressed. You have put a lot of simple nuance's in your track's that seem to pop up differant each time. I heard thing's the second time around I didn't hear the first. I will give it a better liesten tommorrow and see if I have any critique's for you on the mix. But at first listen, I would say it sound's very professional and well thought out. There are a couple of spot's were the vocal might need some work, but let me give it a good listen and I will let you know.

Oct 27, 2002 09:16 am Wow....
Thanks for the positive feedback, it's really encouraging!
Noize - I would have to agree with you about the vocals... they're okay in some spots, but in others they are definitely the weakest part of the track. Why is it that vocals are so hard to get right?
Anyway, thanks for listening.

Oct 29, 2002 08:50 pm I know in my case, I alway's try to not sing like myself, and that can through a curve into the consistancy of your own voice. I alway's found it easier when I played live, to just try to sound like the artist, and it made it very easy to sing consistant. But when it came to doing my own stuff, I would loose it and end up redoing the vocal's and overdubbing till I was blue in the face. I do like the vocal for the most part, there were just a couple of spot's were I can hear your voice sound like your not sure of it. I don't think most people would even catch it, but I listen for that kind of stuff in my own music and find myself doing it for everything. I have some bootleg STP and even he had moment's of sounding like he wasn't sure about what his voice was doing, and that man had some terrific vocal prowess.
Oct 29, 2002 10:39 pm I listened to it several times... yet I never posted... I'm terrible like that. It's very good. The recording sounded good to me. More importantly, the song was great. Keep that stuff up.
