working title Off Tempo
This is a track from what will be a 4 track demo eventually. It was recorded using the new eSp1010 sound card. It was a live recording all instruments played at the same time with a little guitar overdub. This is by no means the finished article. It is a working mix and I would really appreciate your honest comments.
Critic away - I can take it - i should be able to, after all I'm only a drummer

May 04, 2006 04:52 pm The drums will definately need some compresion as will the bass guitar. There is a lot of midrange going on in there that is kind of fighting itself. I would try and smooth out that section of the EQ first then work on getting more low end into the mix.
Otherwise, interesting tune indeed.

May 04, 2006 06:49 pm Thanks noise. This is the first recording with the new equipment. Esp 1010, UB2442 and the B2031A monitrs, which I know are too low in positioning and seem at the moment to be high end biased ( the learning process of new monitors even with their filters). The guitar seems to cut my ears at times and can't find out why. I can't seem to fatten it out enough, this is with 4 gtr tracks. ho hum. I'll keep working and adjusting.
Thanks for the advise i appreciate it.

May 04, 2006 08:10 pm Yep, it will take some time to learn the new gear for sure. And moniters can sometimes take the longest to learn. I suggest popping in a CD you extremely familier with and having a few listens to get yourself aquainted with the new moniters. It works a charm, and you can always go back to retest your ear with something you know well.
