Hey guys.

I'd appreciate some feedback on this tune. It's the first of a whole album of what is, according to Todger, 'pan-generic-omni-rock'.

www.soundclick.com/bands/...m?bandID=534969

It's a tongue in cheek project that's got serious.

I need some production feedback. I want it to sound commercial but still have that raw edge.

I have double tracked the guitar/vox. compressed both a little and applied a little reverb to everything. One of the guitars has an exiter plug in on it. I haven't e.qd the vocal but I have cut around 160-300 hz on the acoustic so that it didnt sound to muddy and collide with the lead vox.

The solo is panned at random around the field.

I really want to freshen up the guitar sound so it s a little more in your face.

Any criticism is welcome. I can take it!

Dude, this is sweet ! Reminds me of what Clutch would sound like if acoustic .

As far as suggestions go, try adding just a 'lil bit of room ambience to it, right before the last compression/maximizing. Things seem just a bit too 'in your face' . I like the sterio mix though, with the random panning on the solo working out very nicely . Good Stuff .

Nice work Flashman !

Thanks man, We co-wrote the backing. It was alot of fun.

It lacks a bit of power on the last chorus. in the writing more than the mix. i'm going to put a big 'huuuugh' on the first beat of the last chorus after the build up and a few other bits.

I'll give that a try (room ambience), would that be a preset on Voxengo Oldschool verb?

Actually, I meant adding a little depth by adding a 'lil verb to it, but I'd be careful not to overdo it ... just a tad of the right room .

Thanks Hue. I'll give it a go. Any ideas to bring out the guitar a bit more? cut some more low end? mild slope in the top end?

Loved it Flashman. Reminds me of an accoustic version of Jon Spencer. I agree with hue on adding a bit of depth with verb. The guitar has I nice full sound which works with the vocal, perhaps you could add a little top end to brighten a little but i certainly wouldn't over do it.

That's kinda cool. Not what I was expecting, but a nice surprise.

Oldskoolreverb has a preset called "Mix Polisher" which adds a "little something."

Flashy, indeed I dont think I would mess with the guitar too much at all as far as EQ goes. It sounded really present here. As for the vox though I do agree they just need a little bit of verb to settle them into the mix a bit. The guitar seemed to have pretty good bocy as it was. I gotta admit that was a pretty kool tune, and as TallChap stated it wasnt entirely what I was expecting it to be.

But indeed twiddle a bit with some reverb settings to find the right one and you'll be home free.

Noize

PS
I was hopin it was downloadable, maybe once its done.

Thanks guys,

Very busy with another project at the momet. I'm not getting paid for the Todger stuff so it has to take a little bit of a back seat sadly. I'll be making all the best tracks availiable to download when we're happy with them.

lol. What were you expecting then tall chap? It's a bit of a joke really. All the other songs are about ridiculous topics but they're coming on.

Anyway Will post them when they're done. The advice is much appreciated.
