Well i was goin with the toneport but now that i think about it the tascam seems just as good and comes with a feature that i need witch is the MIDI for my keyboard. I just want to record my voice on tracks and make beats using my CASIO MIDI keyboard. WHAT DO U THINK IS THE BEST FOR WHAT I AM DOING???? Sorry for asking so many questions in this forum, im just trying to get my learn on...thanks this is a great forum!

Apr 30, 2006 10:17 pm Well, I will be honest here. Yes the Tascam unit would be just fine and maybe all you need. But there is a down side with the Tascam unit. Many peep's have been having trouble with their drivers not working properly on certain systems. Now it is working well for others though, and I believe the USB drivers have been updated recently to get things straightened out, so you might be just fine.
But in the end, yes the Tascam would be all you would need if you arent going to be doing any guitar or bass stuff. But I found it hard to pass up the pre amp models and stuff in the UX-2.
Apr 30, 2006 10:25 pm Oh god, don't start me on the US122. Huge driver problems for windows, my phantom power switch makes the most horrible noise when turned on, I get a lot of un avoidable static through my outputs. It gets the job done though : ), a lot of live recordings to be thanked by it.

May 01, 2006 09:45 pm Indeed mellow, just keep all bases covered when making purchases like that. Because you just never know if something is going to work or not.

May 02, 2006 12:51 pm Yeah, I've read lots of very good, and very bad press on the us122.
I purchased one anyways, and it's been a real trooper for me. It's always worked well, never given me any static (pun intended).
It reloaded its drivers a few times when I started, but it hasn't since a few days after getting it.
I've had it 1.5 years now.
I was working on it a few nights ago, but never used the outputs, so I can't confirm on that. I was only using headphones.
I'm using it on a dell 600m laptop, with MS XP home edition. Drivers from the website, i think.
