Hey Noize I cant seem to find the thread where I asked you what kind of cans you use. DUHHHH

So ... what kind of cans do you use that you were raving about being able to mix realistically and hear the bass on etc...

I use the Beyer Dynamic DT990's. They are awesome for hearing things very full bodied & 3D'ish if you know what I mean but the bass can be a little tricky to nail down as far as a proper mix.

Thanks

I'm assuming the first, but I'm not entirely sure I know the one you're talking about specefically.

Hey Robbue, I found it and just copied my reply.

Robbue, I use a couple differant pair's but the normal go to set are the AKG K 271 Studio or the older K 270 Studio. I often switch to the older K 240 Moniter as well as at times it just seems flater on some material. But the 270 and 271 are very good for most everything. The 270 is the older semi-open design and the 271 are now a closed type. Very quiet inside them, and pretty much nothing coming out either, even at higher listening levels.

A lot of the reason for the AKG models was comfort as well as a realistic response without having an EQ range boosted. I keep a couple pair of the 240 Moniter and the 240 Studio as well for recording as they dont bleed to awfully bad, and are extremely comortable for longer wearing.

The 271 kind of surprised me as most closed type have an over exagerated midrange and these didn't have that problem.

I tried the DT990 on a friends recomendation, but for me and my larger ears they kind of sat a big odd on my round head. But I did like their sound. As for the airy 3D sound, I have to agree on that. I miss that about my Sony headphones which mysteriously dissappeared. The newer ADG 271's are pretty good for that as well. Maybe not as good as the Beyers though.

I would give the AKG 271 a try if your looking to add to your headphone arsenal. But either the 270 or 271 work great.

Robbue, I believe I started the post about loosing bass on mix down under the section of Gear Bags, , I use headphones to mix down and the one I have bring up the low end of the bass, however, it gets lost in other systemswhen when i hear the mix, Noise suggested and pinned pointed the porblem which I had, And It came down to the headphones. I use panosonics HT-355, which for me are pretty good. But as you stated, the bass gets kind of tricky when your mixing down.

Yep, those headphones emphasize the low end for better bass response from material were there really isnt much low end.
