...now how easy is that? Win a Book from Wiley and a CD from PowerFX!

Win these great prizes from Wiley and PowerFX!Make Some Music...Win Some Prizes...sounds easy as heck, huh?

OK, theres a catch, you have some rules to follow. Clicking here will begin a download of a 1.3MB zip file containing 4 audio files, 3 are one shot hits of various sounds and one is a 150BPM beat. Use these audio clips in your piece of music in any way you see fit, so long as they are recognizable to the judges (the staff) and the best piece, based on our opinions, wins.

Here are the technicals:

  • Download the files
  • Each file must be used at least once
  • The loop can be any BPM, currently it is 150BPM, just for your reference
  • Must be at least 60 seconds long
  • Music must be turned in by Wednesday, June 30
  • Must be a completely original composition, no copyrighted clips or samples

Judging criteria will be as follows:

  • Points for creative use of the samples
  • Points for how integral of a part a sample plays in the music
  • The amount of apparant effort put into it

Questions regarding the contest and entry links can be posted in the official contest thread in the forum.

What are the Prizes?

From our good friends at PowerFX, one of their 2rAw loops disks, which is packed with house, techno, 2-step, drumnbass styles with beats, bass and synth loops in rex-refill-acid-wav file formats allowing you less time converting and editing and more time creating great dance music. Mix n Time with the 2rAw Acid and Rex2 formats.

A copy of the new book from Wiley Publishing, "Pro Tools All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies". I read it myself, it's a great book for anyone considering Pro Tools for their music platform, or great reference for those already using it. There is also lots of great information for people not using Pro Tools at all!

If I am in a good mood I may toss in a PowerFX t-shirt as well...

How To Enter

There are a handful of ways to enter:

  • If you have some web space to store you file on, feel free to do put it there and add a link to it in the contest forum thread stuck to the top of the forums.
  • If you are a member of HRC Pro, feel free to post it in your music section and make note of it in the contest forum thread.
  • If you have no webspace available, contact an admin to arrange emailing a file for us to upload for the staff to listen to.
  • If you really want to go the old fashioned way, contact an admin to arrange a snail-mail shipment...but come on, this is the 21st century...

Thanks To:

Thanks to PowerFX and Wiley Publishing for the prizes, flametheband for designing the contest and finding the samples and Noize2u for slicing, normalizing and making sure they are otherwise fit to work together.

Now go make some music, and have fun!
