So randomly talking to friends of friends I find a guy who is selling a Pod xt Pro for $350 almost brand new. Meeting up with him tomorrow, I'm excited to say the least, but to my point, anybody have any pointers, tips, information that you think I should know using it? Hopefully this thread will help others too.

Stinky,
All I can say is you will love it. I've had my PODxt for about six months now, and it's been the best investment in my collection. Make sure to use the ON-LINE library of tones. It's endless. If you want Slash's tone, you got it. Hendrix tone, there's probably about 20 of 'em. Make sure to download the free upgrade to it if it hasn't already been done. Also, there's a 3-pack of upgraded tones you can purchase for $100. Totally worth it. I don't think there's a tone that this thing can't produce. Good Luck! It will open a ton of new doors for you.

Yep, I LUV my XT as well. My first suggestion is to download and install the Line 6 Monkey. Hook up your POD vai USB if you can, otherwisse midi will work as well, its just slower. Then with the POD on, fire up the Line 6 Monkey and let it do its thing. It will update things one at a time. Dont rush as it will take awhile even using USB. Be carefull and follow the directions to a T. You will be updating the Eprom so dont mess that one up. The latest updates take care of some of the issues I have had with the PODxt in the past. Presence on factory patches being set way too high. As well as some of the patches being very heavily soaked with midrange as well.

Oh ya, dont forget to install the Line 6 editor and use it. You can edit your patches much more easily with it open on the PC. You can see everything you are dong right there on your screne.

And I as well recomend doing the $99.00 3 pack add on as well. I dont regret it at all. You get a pile of amp/cab models as well as effects models and a preset pack that is fantastic.

Line 6 rocks.

Hey guys, he's talking about the POD XT Pro here not the XT or XTL (which I have). I am not completely sure that the XT Pro has all the same stuff as the other units - could do - but I'm not sure.

I just got it today, it's a Pod Pro, it's a 2U rack mount, looks like the Pod xt Pro just different layout of knobs on the front. Can't seem to find it on Line 6's website though.

The POD Pro is a discontinued product, it has been replaced by the xt/xt Pro series. On the xt series the pro models have everything the kidney-bean shaped ones do, plus a lot more routing options and stuff...I am pretty sure the pre-xt series was the same way, with the Pro models being everything and more of it's little brothers.

Right ya, got it for like 300 with software and original packaging. Jammed with it a little today, must admit it took me a little to find a decent simple heavy over drive for more hardcore punk sound, but it's fun as hell just to toy around with. Can I still get the 100$ three package thing for it or the monkey thing? Haven't gotten to far into it yet. Thanks for clearing that up though dB.

I am not sure on the add ons package with the POD Pro, but yes indeed the Line 6 Monkey will work with all POD gear so indeed dont hesitate to get it and start running the updates.
