Still EQ'ing a song from last spring!

Hello! I've been pretty sluggish on & off trying to mix some of my songs to the best of their potential, this song in particular has been kind of difficult for me. It has 3 major changes, and where the song starts is totally different than where it ends up - which is part of the problem i think. I'm trying to put together a small demo for this project to send out and i would of course like it to sound as professional as i can get it.

anyhow, heres the track: www.july-2nd.com/music/July-2nd-Ive_Got_Time.mp3

I guess i'd just like to know if there are certain levels that stand out which maybe are too pronounced and/or restricted? thanks!

P.S. i'm brand new to this board as of about a week ago, and i love what i've come across here!

July, welcome to HRC if no one has welcomed you yet.

I am on a tight schedule tonight but will give it a listen a bit later and let you know what I think. I listened to a tiny bit of the beggining. Interesting sounds you have used. I like the way the drums distort and a bit on the vox as well. Sounds very controlled, if indeed that is the effect your going for. Which by the clean sounds I hear in there I assume that is what you were going for.

I will have a better listen later.

Woa, this is a really great song. First song I can really say that about that I have heard on this board so far. I'm still listening to it and it just has the creativity I like to hear, not just simple boring one-track minded kind of stuff.

Great job!

Wow!!!!

Unbelievable.
Best song by far that I have heard on this site.
The only thing I would do is throw some power vocals in with some of the louder parts, But thats just me.
You must have eq'd this thing for a while because it sounds perfect. 3/4 of the way through how it picks back up into cymbol crashes(your singing--"and still I could be"---) the whole mix just jumps at you in a seamless way.

I loved it. Now where can I download it so I can put it into my I-pod along side of Jimmy Eat World.

Thats my 2 cents.

July2nd, I had another listen tonight, sorry it took so long to get back here.

I love the intro, very airy and interesting. I like the way you flow into the piece with the distorted effect slowly building. As well the drums and rythm parts build up nicely. The piano sounding riff stays real clean behind the distorted stuff, as do some of the drums. Then you move into the very nice piano chorus part with the soft vocal behind it. Very well put together amd mixxed in my book. I like the way all the voices come together aroun 3:45 or so. And then the build up again after that. The guitar fits in very well there. You use of panning to set things in their place worked out very well also.

The pice is a little long for most I think, but I am one who enjoys a long piece with instrumental changes and such. You did a very good job of keeping things interesting, Again the vocal bits around 6:00 add some very interesting movement to the piece as it moves to the outro.

Again, my compliments indeed on a very interesting piece of music.
