$90 without the power supply...and that INCLUDES shipping...I am ordering at least one today, I may rack up both PC's in my studio...how handy is that!

Let me know when you get it. I wanna see if my SampleCell card will fit in the case. And I see only one drawback, only 2 3.5" bay's. I would either have to loose one internal HD or loose my floppy drive. Hey, maybe I can find a USB floppy.

I would need to add another chunk to my small rack though.

Noize, I had that same thought, however, there are a couple possibilities, your removable HD uses a 5.25 bay, not a typical 3.5 bay, also, floppies can fit in a 5.25 with a simple, cheap adapter, I have laying around somewhere...

My stoage hard drive I hope to have networked pretty soon, so the second drive won't even be in the processing PC< it will be in the storage PC ;-).

Yes, I guess you are right. I allready have 2 removable bay's in use. I could just yank the second internal drive and make it a removable and leave it in the master bay as it is really just my transfer drive.

Or, if I just build a new rig for the music box. I could network the SampleCell box with the Drive's in it.

Good Thinkin. :-)

Also, there are 5u cases that probably have more bays...the one I ordered is just a 4u, I am probably gonna order 1 more and network the two with the new VST networking that allows me to mix and record on one PC (the one with the good sound card) and use the other one for just computing power to run plugins and stuff so my reverb plugins don't kill my main PC like they have a habit of doing...

I think I could get by with a 4U. I don't need the SCSI burner in the rig anymore, so I really could get by with only 3 5.25" bay's.

But I found something even more exciting for us all to drool over, and I will start a new post for it.

Look for Carillon Audio.

Well, I ordered mine yesterday, so when I get it you'll have to come over for a beer and check it out...and watch Lindsey WALK! she started walking a few days ago! now she can pretty much cross the livingroom with the proper insentive :-)

Ya, I just wanna make sure the SampleCell card will fit in one. And maybe set it up as just the sampler and my removable drive server. Then build one a little quieter for the main box.

I got my case this evening. I haven't built the PC yet, but I will tell you that the case is heavy and solid, three fans in it one blowing out the front and two blowing right across my RAM and CPU and out the back. There are also braces the fold down against any cards to hold them more steady than just with the one silly screw at the front and there are braces for full-length cards as well. And when I say full length I mean like Noize's Samplecell, now THAT is full length.

It is deep and will probably hang out the back of my rack about 3 inches, but it looks like it will be solid and quiet. I will post the full story when I get the parts moved and get it booted up.

I don`t get it. Do you build a computer in it and then mount it in your rack?

ya, all the PC parts just mount itnto a rackmountable case instead of your average desktop or tower kind of thing.

sweet! How much would you guesstimate the cost for building a PC that would just be used for recording? Say...800 MHZ, 512 RAM (not including the sound card cause I already have it)

i would say around 850$ for a powerful machine.
i build computers for recording for other people and just to give you a tip. make sure you buy 7200rpm hdd. and also a cpu w/ a lot of cache. i know that some amd systems, have all cpu, but no fpu, which is essential to rendering so it can be slow. i would go with intel p4's

dB, don't put it in the rack till I get by and peek. You think it is long enough? Well I guess you have seen the card, so if you say so I believe you. I think I will just order one right away.

I think I am ordering a second for my other studio PC. I decided my second PC is gonna me for my surround system since my two sound cards don't play well together.

I finished putting together my PC in this rackmount case. I gotta say that is one of the most well-built, heavy, solid and quiet cases I have ever seen.

If anyone wants to rack-mount their PC, buy this case, I am amazed.
