whats wrong??
im currently using 3 mics for my drums.. 1 Behringer C-1 for overheads, 1 Behringer XM1800S for snare (w/o the grill) . . 1 Behringer XM1800S (w/ Grill) for the bassdrum.. yes i know, ultra sucky mics for drums.. haha.. listen to my demo ..
www.soundclick.com/dodo . . listen to Compo 6 .. whats wrong with that ?? i only added little reverb effect in adobe audition.. other than that, everything's flat.. i need comments and help.. cause my guitarist will be tracking soon.. so i need to finalize it.. and btw, its not individual tracks.. i record 3 mics to 1 stereo track :( ...
pls help.. :((

Dec 29, 2005 03:40 pm the kick sounds like a pillow is stuffed in it. there's no low end to it and the head sounds a bit loose.... so it comes of as cardboardish... though I've heard cardboard wardrobe boxes do well for hardcore kick :)
..as far as fixing it... run it though a multiband limiter/compressor and try to eek some low end out of it.

Dec 29, 2005 03:50 pm or... try to isolate it with a crossover or the multiband limiter/EQ and trigger that signal... more work but better result...

Dec 29, 2005 11:19 pm can u suggest a good effect i can use ?? I have Adobe Audition and Sony Soundforge 8.0...
i want my kick to sound like vinnie paul's kick in pantera or joey's in slipknot.. hehe.. but i cant seem to get it.. lol.
im currently using the Behringer 2222fx-pro.. i know there's a built in compressor, how do i use it ?? i tried turning it to 71 .. but it doesnt work ??
Dec 30, 2005 12:08 am How are you using the mic's? Where is the bass drum mic located in reference to the set? That can make a world of a difference. I'd try to get the best recording before looking for effects to fix a mediocore one. I'm not really sure, but I think you're going to have a lot of trouble getting a perticular sound on a certain piece when it's all recording down to one track as well.

Dec 30, 2005 05:36 pm It doesnt sound like there is alot of reverb on it so I dont think that is the problem. Like Zek stated I would try and isolate the kick itself and get some low end on it. If you can retrack it then all the better. Other then that the rest of the kit sounded pretty bright. Not as full as it could sound but pretty close.
