Hey folks. Finally have a new tune and would love to get some feedback on the mix. It's called "It aint easy", and is making me a bit nuts. We're looking for a semi live feel and as such have opted to include sloppy but otherwise decent takes on all the parts. However, becuase of this and the fear of killing all the dynamics, mixing has been a struggle. any suggestions would be very welcomed.

Dec 20, 2005 04:18 pm hey phil, hows it going?
sounds pretty cool to me, personally i'd mix the vocals down a tiny bit and add a tounch of reverb, but its a taste thing. for the genre they fit pretty well anyway. maybe a little time bit less mid and slghtly more high end?
i dunno, it sounds good to me, im just trying to nitpick on purpose, but i wouldnt say anything was particularly out of place or poor sounding. nice work!

Thanks for the listen.Could you explain about the mids highs comment? Is a specific instrument or vocal? Or is it the entire mix?

Dec 21, 2005 12:33 am This sounds good. Nice arrangement, great overall feel. As a guitar player I would like to hear the lead guitar come up some but that could be just a case of guitaritis. :) I do agree with flame though that it sounds like the overall mix could use a touch of high end eq. That could also just be the mp3 conversion too though. Nice job!
Dec 21, 2005 02:18 pm Thanks Diemusik,
I added a bit of high end to the mix, and brought the lead up in a couple of places. Thanks for you input.

Dec 21, 2005 03:48 pm I think it sounds pretty good right now, drums seem kind of buried in the mix though. Other than that sounds great to me.

Dec 21, 2005 10:47 pm I thought it sounded pretty good as well. I agree that the vox might be set back a tiny bit as they are kind of upfront. And the drum's as well could use some punch, via compression to get them to sit better in the mix. I'm gonna listen to the rest of your tunes later.
I liked the tune though for sure.
Dec 22, 2005 11:59 am Thanks Noize,
I will take a look at the drums and see if I can get them to pop a bit more. I tend to agree about the vocal. I'll see what I can make happen.
Thanks again.
