Hey everybody, hows it going? Hope all your weekends are going alright

I got asked recently to record a track for a forthcoming Neil Young tribute album entitled 'Into The Red', and picked The Needle And The Damage Done - one of my favourite tracks of his.

Check it out, if you like : www.flamemusic.com/index.php?id=2

I'll keep you all posted on the status of the album, but it'll be out just in time for Christmas

Very cool take on a classic flame. Very different but also very good. Your vocal captures the original feeling of the song and is really well done, nice work! :D

Wow, very kool indeed! Honestly that was one of my favorite Neil Young tunes to play. I have not played it nor listened to it since the last time I played it on a very sad occasion in the 70's, the Funeral of a girl I cared for very much. She took her life with a drug overdose and her parents new it was one of her favorites so requested I play it. Not a dry eye to be seen, including mine.

Your voice sounds a bit differant for this tune flame, dont know what it is but it is good and fits very well. I like the single snare going on, keeps an odd time to the tune.

I think you broke my not listening to this tune as it brought back some grand memories indeed. :-)

And surely keep me posted as I would love to purchase that album being a NY fan.

Hell no dude, that is one of my favorite NY tunes of all time. I burned through 4 albums we played it so much. Actually the whole thing really. Funny thing is I have never replaced the vinyl with the CD of that same album.

But ya, yer take on that tune is outstanding. Like I said, I love the simple approach you took to it. It keep's it in the true form of the original, just differant arrangement and instrumentation.

Rates a 1o++++++ in my book.

The fat one always watches us.

Just listened to this today Flame...sounds cool man.

Way different from the acoustic/folk versions I always heard in bars etc and I must say, I do like it.

Those drums are the thing that gives it the unique sound (to my ears anyway) and of course, the usual vocals. I do like this song anyway but I will say, this is a good version which is always good when you are coverin a popular song, so aye, big thumbs up bud.

Indeed, less Lennon sounding these days though bud - which is cool....I take it you changed your vocal Eq/Recording method a wee bit??? This is not a BAD thing btw, just noticed it sounds different vocal tonaly than your early stuff but aye, ROCK ON man...good stuff.

Flame

I also listened to Emily and REALLY like that one. IS that you on the piano (as in the pic) on the song??? Very cool indeed, short, snappy, to the point and very nice.

I must add, the mix itself is good. There's not any clutter in there and the piano stands out...

Cool song bud. I must start keeping up with folks releases!!!

Good work mate.

Coco.

i only used to sound like lennon cos i had to eq the hell out of my recordings to remove all the hiss and stuff. now i've got a vocal booth and a decent mic. i'm gonna do some lennon-y sounding vocals again soon though, only better.

and aye, thats me on the piano there, its my girlfriends. mines all out of tune and gnarly so i dont play it so much...

Those are great. I loved Rockin in the Free World. It sounded like he used a little app called sh*ttalker to do the voice track. Very interesting to say the least. I also loved Heart of Gold. But yours of course gets a special place for me.

Very cool stuff, and I will definately be ordering the disc when it is released, so let me know as soon as it is done.
