I looked at some cheap video cards in local Frys some of which had at least 2 outputs, DVI+VGA or 2DVI etc. However when I asked those guys if that would support dual monitors, he said no it wont.He said its either DVI or VGA. Then I talked to my friend and he said not all multi-output cards have dual head ability.
Is this true ?
BTW, how do you search for dual monitor cards ? I tried newegg but none of the specifications state if multi monitor is supported.Help !!

Go directly to the manufacturers site and the spec for the card's should be there and clearly state whether it is dual head or not. Most card's these days are, unless they are real cheap one's.

My card has a VGA and DVI port, and it came with an adapter to use the DVI as a VGA port to enable dual monitors...if it will support dual monitors, the box it comes in will say so.

Oh, and don't always believe salesmen, often their are just part-time idiots that are pretty unsure themselves...

Or sure about it, yet don't know in the first place and don't want to look stupid. =) If you're looking at an Nvidia chipset, I believe the dual monitor support is called Nview or something to that effect.

a lot of cards will be able to support dual monitors, but if they arent very good cards they will have troule displaying full resolution on both simultaneously (also depends on what kind of screens you will be using of course)
