Hey Tadpui,

I saw you have a pair of the mxl 993's. Did you get em in England? How are they working out for you?

I got them at the Musician's Friend's outlet center here in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. I think that different online places are starting to carry MXL products more often, so hopefully you can find them where you live.

As for the mics themselves, I really like them. Mind you that I don't have any other SDCs to compare them to, but I think that they sound great on acoustic guitar, and they performed very well as drum overheads. I've also used one for shaker, bongo drums, and on a guitar cab. They were OK for these uses, but acoustic guitar has to be their biggest strength for me.

Like my other MXL mic, the quality/price ratio is very high for these. You get what you pay for, and these are pretty darn cheap for SDCs, but I'd say that they have surpassed my expectations of what a budget SDC should sound like.
