Well, some old familiar names are starting to appear in the users list, so I am guessing almost everyone is getting to the new site now, also, some of you may be upset that some of your posts from the old forum are now gone...for that I sincerely apologize, there was little to no way around that, I can still retrieve info from there, but I am concentrating on the tips, links and freeware info, so, if you wish to continue using this once large and strong community, post again, this one will be sticking around for a while, as I refuse to go through this again, next time the whole site goes... (ya, right, say many of the regulars, we have heard that before:-)

Anyway, welcome to the new community, I hope everyone sticks it out with us through this transition.

For those of you how don't know and may be interested, "DNS" (Domain Name Server) is the protocol that tells the internet where to go when I specific request is made, so, when you ask for dbmasters.net it checks the DNS record at the closest major internet backbone and it tells that request which server to send the request to to serve up that website. I recently changed hosts from your-site.com to dixiesys.com, so I had to update the DNS record for dbmasters.net to send requests to a new server. After doing that it usually take a couple days for all the internet backbones to get the new information, until it does, it keeps sending those requests to the old server...

anyway, that's the 'net in a nutshell :-)

Rock on! Glad to see ya here.

And just so you know what kind of hell a DNS transfer can be. My site has been hangin in limbo for 3 week's as I wait patiently for an inept bunch of wanna be's to unlock my domain name so it can be transfered to a more competant DNS registrar and server. So be carefull who you register your domain with. A good deal money wise is not always a good deal functionality wise some time's.
