I'm not usually one for talkin' smack, but,

I recently purchased a Roland Juno-D from MF. All went well, got it safe and sound, and it was working well.

After a week or so, I notice that one key is not operating as loudly as the rest. Had someone else play it without telling them, and they noticed right away. I called MF, they took it back and replaced it very quickly. Yeah!

Now, after having the new one for a few months, a different key has started making more noise than the rest of them. So I call MF, they say since it's been over their 45 day timeframe, I need to contact Roland direct.

I do, and I get an RA number, and send it off. They received it on the 22 of sept, and have been sitting on it for over a week. I just called them and the guy there says it'll be a few weeks before they get a new keyboard assembly. SHEESH! This model is not very old! What are they making them with? if they don't have keyboard assemblies around?

Anyway, if anyone out there is looking at the Juno-d for an entry level inexpensive synth (like I was) then be forwarned. I love the performance, sounds and playability (especially for the price) but if this is a representation of their quality control, then it may be a factor for you.

The Roland Disk Lab that I use once went down with some sort of weird disk-drive issue which was cured only after removing the drive, letting it sit upside down for a week, returning it to the drive-bay, then repeating this process TWO more times... all the while taunting the unit verbally...

"You know, if you decide NOT to work when I put you back together, things wont be so good between us anymore."
"How much did I pay for you ?... Pfft ."
"You know, if you don't start working, you'll never-ever have the chance to link-up to that digital mixer you were so fond of... pitty ."
"Do you like to kayak ?"

Then I started building a computer in the same room, right in front of it . Installing drives that 'work', a soundcard with s/pdifs, and takling nicely to it throughout the process, using words like 'software', and 'automation'.

Has worked fine ever since . 8p
