What is the best way to get a good steady volume on my recordings? ?All my recording seem to come out a bit low volume wize. I use a digital 8-track for all my recording.
Another problem i have been having is when I bump the tracks the sound seems to fade in and out.
Help please?!?!

Sep 27, 2005 07:29 pm jimmyboy, it sounds as though you incoming signal while recording isnt hot enough. You need to set your input gain to a decent level. You should have meters or a signal light that will tell you when you have sufficiant signal present.
If the input gain cannot be made sufficiant to get a hotter signal you may want to add a compressor to get a hotter signal comming in.
When you say bump the tracks do mean bouncing multiple tracks down to one or two tracks?
Sep 29, 2005 03:51 pm yea i meant bouncing.
the problem is not there when i listen to the tracks individually but its happens after bounching them.

Sep 29, 2005 09:03 pm I guess first question then is what digital 8 track are you using. There are tons of them out there so knowing would help try and find a solution.
You should fill out your gear profile with some details so others can help ya when ya have questions.

Oct 03, 2005 06:44 pm Do you have the manual for the MR-8?
It sounds as though it is running some processing on the tracks as they are being bounced down. Or there maybe be deeper problems with the recorder itself.
Is there any automation on the tracks before you bounce them down? This could cause a problem like the one you are describing.
