I got this today and its a really cool 8-track but there is this really annoying fuzz noise when i turn the master volume up over half way.
Anyone know how to stop this!

Is it always making noise over that point, or does it only make noise when physically moving the fader?

Could be a bad ground in your wall power plug in. Try another wall socket. Or try conditioned power, or a UPS. That would give you a good ground to attach to (theoretically).

Is it used? If brand new, I'd return it right away.

If used, it could be a dirty fader...how to clean it depends on the type of fader...

i think this is a problem with this model of the 8track.it does not seem to affect the quality of recording but in parts of total silence it can be heard faintly

This may seem silly but do you have control for either channel gain or master gain? IF so is one of the channels gains set real high.

By gain I mean input gain, which is generally a knob at the top of the fader channel strip.

Yeah I have one of those and the onboard preamps are not the best. I use my Tubepre for everything that I record on my MR8. Like Noize is saying, the best that you could do is make sure your gain isnt too high, it sound like one of them are.
