Need some help please

I'm running soundblaster audigy 2 zs plantinum, and adobe audition 1.5. My problem is that when I drop a beat in the channel to record over...the beat gets re-recorded in the next channel that I'm singing on. I have headphones as well but that dosent solve the problem.

I've also used other recording programs and got the same result. Is it my sound card? or just something eazy I'm overlooking?

In Audition, make sure that only the track(s) that you want to record to is armed.
