Hey everyone,

I've been looking to get a amp simulator and have pretty much decided on the Vox Tonelab. None of the music shops in my area carry it so I'm looking for any opinions on its quality compared to other amp sim's that are around (Pod, VAMP, etc...)
Has anyone played through the Tonelab here?

Thanks,

Mike

I've been using amp sims for some time ( wrote an article compairing the v-amp,pod and j-station a fewq years ago) , I have a PODxt and it rocks. Saying that I've recently been looking inot the vox amps and I've cmpaired there amps to the lone 6 ones in the price range and the vox amps are hands down the better sound. If you're looking for a nice tube tone and sound the Vox has a better sound . the tone lab and the podxt are the same price right now, the difference is opptions. The XT has a lot more amps, cabs and effects and has a USB hook up plus you can up grade the software on line . The tone lab works more like an amp and has a tube pre built into it. they both are very good products and will give you about any sound you're looking for, some say the tone lab doesn't do heavier amps well but that's not true , both work great . It all comes down to what you want/need , if you are looking for an easy interface the tone lab is very self explanitory but if you're the kind of person that likes to program the hell out of something the XT rocks that way. I went with the XT and I just bought one of the valvtronix amps buy vox ( same sims as the tonelab) . I love the clean AC30 sound of the vox and the amp can pull of a nice high gain brit stack as well , the XT covers the resto of the spectrum.

the Tonelab rocks it's a good buy. the PODxt rocks and is a good buy as well.
the V-amp still need work, it sound ok and will do the job but mine only lasted 6 months before it crapped out.

Wow thanks Geoff. Thats about as much help that I could ever ask for from my question. I think I will go with the Tonelab. It seems to do just what I need for recording purposes nand the tube makes it hard to say no.
Thanks again for your help!

Cheers,

Mike
