I just got an old copy of ableton live 4 and am really enjoying it. But I find that there is no wave editor which is strange. does anyone know what the deal is with this?

Many tracker programs have minimal wave editing...though I am completely ignorant about Ableton, I would suggest getting Audacity, audacity.sourceforge.net a freeware prgoram for editing needs...or, choose another tracker :-)

if you try to edit a wav within Live it will open your default/selected wav editing program. I have cool edit installed so when i select Edit in Live it opens Cool Edit...unfortunately for me i'm using an indigo soundcard and it doesn't seem to allow using 2 audio programs at once so i need to save and close Live then open Cool Edit, save changes, close then re-open Live, every time i want to edit a wav...hmpfff...

Use ASIO in Live, WDM in Cool Edit, and it might let you...
