Drum Replacement, almost there...

i use steinberg nuendo and i recently downloaded a free program that turns audio peaks (percussion hits) into midi data, i believe its called something like KTDrumTrigger, and it has alot of parameters and controls and it works awesome, i still cant figure out why its free and why more people dont use it...

the only thing you do is insert the KTDrumTrigger into, say the kick track, set the parameters and watch the graph to see if all the hits are coming through like you want. next you open a MIDI track and for the IN you use KTDrumTrigger which puts all the drum hits in that track as MIDI data, for the OUT i was using a drum machine sampler thing that comes with NUENDO, and it worked well for practice, but say if i wanted to use a kick sample from somewhere else, how can i do this? are there free drum samplers/machines out there where i can run the MIDI through and put in my own samples?

i hope this question isnt confusing...

try downloading the fruityloops demo at www.fruityloops.com

they could have some good samples that you could use... if you dont like the samples then you can edit the sound and change the pitch and sustain and all that stuff. you can also add some FX to make it sound better too.
