Configuring E-MU 1820 With Nuendo -Help Me Out!

Alrighty, so I invested in Nuendo and an E-MU 1820 interface. I know I want to configure the ASIO drivers with Nuendo for the purposes of running 8 ins for my drums. How can I do this? ASIO is wayyy new to me and I can't really find a tutorial. Any ideas guys?? (PS-I'm running Nuendo 2)

Same thing, basically, as a Cubase setup... Patchmix can be a bit of a bear to get a handle on, but once you do, you'll appreciate the flexibility of it. In the meantime, in one of the Nuendo menus you'll find an option for audio setup, and you want to choose "E-MU ASIO". Load-up a "default" PatchMix session for ASIO direct monitoring, and play around until you get the hang of it. Of course, there's some "tutorial" kind of stuff included in the box, and there's some stuff on the EMU site that will help... Also, several people on here use Nuendo, so you'll get some more responses, more knowledgeable than this.

Ah thanks. I did what you said and it looks like everything is recording on the same track... I suck at this.. Why can't audition support ASIO :(

Here again, it'll be similar... Somewhere in the audio setup in Nuendo will be an option to "enable" the ASIO inputs (Which, you've apparently done...). Somewhere (else, most likely) will be a multi-track option, to allow "over-dubbing" (that may or may not be set correctly now). Somewhere in your individual track options (possibly in the mixer itself) will be an option to chose which ASIO input to use for that particular track.

In other words, Nuendo channel one, doesn't have to use input one, which doesn't have to be mic one... get it? Which is another reason why documentation while recording is important... Write down what & where you do, when you do it. Almost sounds "nasty"...

Okay i think i got it set up with the channels. The only thing now is that it only records one track at a time?? I can't figure it out. I'm using the supplied cubase vst

You have to "arm", aka Record Enable each track you want to use to record on. Once you've recorded on those tracks, be sure and turn off the Record Enable (or whatever Nuendo calls it), or you'll keep appending to that particular track. Look in the Nuendo Help and search for "Record" and see if they don't have you a little walk-through kind of thing to get you going with it. You're dealing with a new interface (which happens to have a very complex software mixer), and new software. It's not going to be easy to get going.

When you say "I'm using the supplied cubase vst", what exactly are you referring to?

Basically, I gave up on Nuendo for now and started working with what it came with, which is Cubase VST

I tried out Nuendo for a while, seemed FAR more difficult than it had to be, lots of great spec and all, but poor usability...
