When you use the clean audio folder tool in SONAR 3 PE, does it ONLY find obsolete and junk .wav files or does it actually pull up all of the audio data, even for the good tracks? I just don't want to delet any of the wav files for my songs that I need.

Jul 27, 2005 12:33 pm ya know, i'm not sure...i keep up with my .wav files manualy (save every project's audio its own folder with the song file, and clean them as i see fit) as opposed to having all audio go to C: > Cakewalk Project Files, or whatever.
something i learned about Cubase, is as you edit audio, it saves the original AND the new clip, which A: is really handy for backtracking and B: leads to HUGE file sizes. in Sonar, i've always used the *reference audio from sourse* when editing, instead of the *copy to project audio folder*.....this makes sonar load files quicker and saves space...but i'm not exactly sure how it works.
IF sonar works like cubase, and saves individual edits as seperate files, then yeah i think it just erases the 'edit history' or something...and everything should sound normal...
like i said, i've never used that function before so i'm not real clear myself.
keep a close watch on where you're saving to when you record audio....name everything, and you'll be able to know what's gooin' on.
Jul 27, 2005 01:08 pm I use the Clean Audio folder function all the time. What it does is it deletes any of the wave files that were created during recording, but never used in a project. I've never had a problem with it deleting anything that I still needed. It only erases the unnecessary stuff.

Jul 27, 2005 02:13 pm Yea, it works for me just fine and never had any problems with it since SONAR 2. Normally, I would just confirm the unwanted files with Cakewalk Audio Finder.
Jul 27, 2005 02:51 pm Yeah . . . that's what I thought! I just remember using a similar function in ACID 4.0 (blast from the past . . he he!) and all my good tracks were deleted. Thanks for the help!
