Cubase SX Midi to audio with audiophile 2496 problems

Hi all

Can you help?

Basically I’m trying to mix down a whole bunch of midi tracks within Cubase SX. To do this I have to record the tracks as audio tracks.

So I really need to record “what you hear”

How do I do this using my new audiophile 2496 soundcard?

I’ve read the manual and played around with the control panel until the we hours of the night, with no luck!!!

Thanks

I think that the "what you hear" term is a SoundBlaster thing. Its a "feature" that plays havoc on more people than almost anything else when beginning recording.

Anyways, I'm almost positive that this will be accomplished in Cubase. It doesn't produce any sound when you mix down all of your MIDI tracks down to a single file? Make sure that your locator markers are set to emcompass the entire song, and make sure that you're telling it to mix down all tracks (assuming that you want all of your tracks included in the mixdown).

I know that there are a few people around here that use both Cubase and MIDI, so hopefully you'll get some expert help before long.

Does Cubase have "track freezing"...if so, perhaps that would be a quick way to bounce it all down to audio...Sonar 4 has it, I thought Cubase did, but I might be wrong...

Good question. I didn't get that far with my copy of SX before I released it back into the wild. I've liked the idea of that feature ever since I read you all talking about it. It would save a ton of CPU power.

Yeah, it's a great feature, and as I recall Cakewalk was slow to jump on it...so I just assume Cubase has it...if you use a lot of MIDI and a lot of effects (on audio or MIDI) it can save a TON of CPU...then just unfreeze to make tweaks and refreeze, it's a great function...
