? about snake with headphone amp

Hello, I'm looking into buying a headphone amp, and the 8 channel behringer one looks pretty rad, but my real question is, I have my recording desk above a basement, and plan to run all my lines down into to the basement via snake, since the mixer is up next to my desk, i was sort of considering putting the headphone amp up there to, if i do this, i need to run a snake down to the basement for the headphones to jack into, my question is, I've heard of people frying snakes before because they run like a power amp through the snake, and over that distance it gets a lot of heat, does anybody think the headphone amp would put out too much? basically if i run that snake from my headphone amp to the basement, will my snake live due to heat purposes?
Thanks all
Johnny D!

well, snakes are cold blooded so they NEED heat...to live, ever see those electric heat rocks for 'em?

heh sorry

ya know i've never pondered this before, i can say the studios that i have been in, did indeed have the headphone amp in the control room. so if you really want to play it safe, i'd get eight ballanced TRS cables....ugh that's alot ok yeah does the snake have TRS jacks, or are you talkin' about running it through the XLR's and using 'adaptors'? cuz that might not be good.

I was thinking just an 8ch TRS-TRS snake, if i can find one, i would prefer TRS(m) to TRS(f), but no such luck so far, but yeah i was trying to avoid the eight cables, cause one, the cost, and two, the fact that a snake truly would be a better application... thanks for you help

I think you should be ok with running a headphone amp as it wouldn't be putting out nearly as much power as a power amp for speakers.
