I finally got it going. Thanks for your help.
I used the Edirol synth which is kind of ho hum, but it works. Here is a new question can you reccomend a really good general synth with some good sounds.
And are there any that you can create on you own with sound fonts?
Happy holidays all!

May 29, 2005 11:48 am a real synth or virtual synths do ya want?
ive got the alesis ion - is an awesome analogue emulator. highly recommended.
May 29, 2005 11:51 am for a real MIDI controller I use an M-Audio Radium 49...for virtual synths there are loads of 'em...Dyad from PowerFX, Absynth from Native Instruments, the new and totally awesome Project 5 from Cakewalk which includes Dimension, a wicked-cool virtual synth...and there are hundreds more, many free...check our links directory for free virtual synths...
May 30, 2005 06:05 pm yeah you're welcome bro...i use a roland groovesynth as my controller and as a soundmodule (sometimes both at once) which is fun...as for plugin' synths, eek there's tons out there, i like the NI's FM7, the demo is really nice. propellerheads Reason is sweet, alot like Project 5...tonsa gooddies in those.

May 31, 2005 10:37 am I've been looking around, the Fantom and Triton are the meat and potatoes of the synth world. There's korg and alesis as well. all starting around 1k$ but you should be able to upgrade your sounds, but not sure if you can load soundfonts.
for less, there's synths that'll do the general synth work, but may not be upgradeable. Roland juno-d, korg x-5, alesis q6.2 and 8.2. I think the alesis are upgradeable, though I'm not sure.
AFA soft synths, i picked up sytrus for use in FL studio, it's got tons of neat stuff in there, i haven't gone through it all, but i'm pretty impressed with it's range and flexibility.
