Alright, here goes nuthin

The recording quality and the performance are both far from perfect, but I think some of you fans of the old nintendo games might get a kick out of this.

This was recorded live at a show we did last wednesday night.

Oh man, that had to be nasty. All that burning plastic and microchips.

Seriously though, that's a hard game.

Thats really cool Mike. I never played that particular game, but my sons were hooked on it so I heard the music a bunch! :)

Thanks for listening, Dan!

Yeah, I was probably around 4th grade when I used to play it. It was cool because it was one of the only games that allowed you to save right on the cartridge. I beleive it actually took a battery inside it.

HAHAHA, that's friggin' awesome dude!

Your drummer went nuts, it sounds like.

I loved that game...it always irritated the crap out of me that my sister beat it before I did.

You need to do an album's worth of these things...Zelda, Ice Hockey, Mario Brothers 1 and 2, etc. I know *I*'d buy it.

That's aweseome. A local band in Rochester, NY (The Isotopes) where I live plays the Mario Bros. theme. They play it as surf/rock tune. Pretty neat band.

Sorry to post, again. This band, The Isotopes, is almost all The Simpson's themed. Gotta love that.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Yeah, Woody(drummer) tends to get a bit crazy at shows.

As for the recording, we hired a professional sound company with a crazy setup. We ended up being a bit pressed for time so I didn't get a chance to check out the equipment as much as I wanted to. I do remember that he used Sennheiser 604s(I think) on the toms and a single ribbon mic as an overhead. I used my trusty Fostex vf-160 to record with. But, the most I could get from the board was a single mono mix which kinda sucks so I set up my pair of Behringer B1s that allowed me to capture the sound of the room and audience. That also helped me attain some sort of stereo signal, too.

Oh, and one serving of Mario coming right up ...

I'm almost in tears. That's beautiful! :)

Are Zelda and Mario the only two like this that you do?
