i am about to purchase a laptop computer (a high end toshiba) and i am wondering if it is possible to run my studio (going to buy a delta 1010 system) from this computer. it has more than adequate memory and speed, but im questioning if i will be able to install the included card with the limited internal space of the laptop. as always, any input is much appreciated...

Not with a Delta 1010 you won't. Delta's come with a PCI soundcard to install on your PC. Laptops do not have PCI slots at all. You would have to go with some sort of USB or firewire audio card. If you need those 10 ins/outs to record at one time, it will be hard to with a laptop.

I think M-Audio has a firewire 18/14. I just saw an advert for their protools/maudio stuff. May be more than you're budgetting, but gives you an option.

I'm using a tascam us-122, USB, 2 channel, MIDI. It's working pretty well.

I haven't tasked out the laptop compared to desktop systems yet, but will in the future.

My mates got a Tascam/Laptop setup and it works really well.

Depends on how demanding your tasks are i guess.

Is the Laptop a recording solution or just something else in the kit?
