is this to be another extension of george lucas's longing to be the director of the muppet show OR are we gonna actually get the star wars we have been asking for for nearly 25 yrs. since "epmire"i have felt sorta screwed over the only thing missing from the last 3 movies was the 2 old hecklers in the balcony!

May 02, 2005 12:44 pm Thats a bit harsh.
'Return of the Jedi' was alright!
The last two have been ... well .. crap.
Natalie Portman kept me watching :)
May 02, 2005 01:01 pm I disagree completely ballz, I have liked the movies, with or without Statler and Waldorf (the hecklers in question).
JarJar is still my all time favorite Star Wars character...though I know I am very alone in that...
May 02, 2005 01:05 pm well im not as exicted about the new movie once i found out that the star wars tv show will be filling the gap from the end of ep3 to ep4. i just figured ep3 would end at the beginning of ep4. ohh well gotta wait longer for the story.
May 02, 2005 01:43 pm natalie portman was miscast in my opinion. although she's hot, she talks like a mall girl--not ditsy, but certain vocal patterns are obviously 21st century american--and she cant seem to control it!
May 02, 2005 01:57 pm agreed, I didn't think she fit that role very well either...

I agree 100%.
Honestly though, I can't stand all that computer animation. I'm a way huger fan of puppets and costumes and cheap illusion magic tricks than all this computer graphics nonsense!

May 02, 2005 02:12 pm It's called Sci-Fi right? That's where fake props like puppets and costumes have been replaced by modern technology of computer graphics.
I say it's all good...

May 02, 2005 02:23 pm I don't think its harsh at all. George Lucas is a master of special effects...
...but he's not a very good director.

May 02, 2005 10:29 pm I am undecided on the new one. I guess I go in with an open mind, and am more into picking it apart Special effects wise.
An open mind actually let me watch The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and not be bummed because of things left out or added.
But on the Star Wars thing, I guess if I go to see it it will be just for the reason it is Sci Fi and nothing more. Special Effects or not, Lucas is good at that stuff, makes it look real enough to believe.
And Tadpui, I coulnt agree more. He is a master indeed, but alas he is a very poor director.

May 03, 2005 04:46 am The thing i thought was wierd was that the technology in the prequels is clearly more advanced than in the originals, seems a huge oversight to me. I thought clones was way better than menace, so i've got more hope for this one.
May 03, 2005 09:02 am What bugs me is all of the things that play such a huge roll in the first 3 that are never mentioned once in IV V and VI.

May 03, 2005 09:54 am Guess Lucas wasn't planning anymore after 4, 5, and 6. Here's a link to MTV News that has Kevin Smith's (from Clerks) thoughts on the movie. Sort of some spoilers though!
